About FirstTimeBuys.co.uk
FirstTimeBuys.co.uk is a property web site for UK first time buyers. We aim to give an estimate of the sort of properties that may be affordable for a first time buyer in a given area.
FirstTimeBuys.co.uk does this by working out from your entered salary and deposit which properties you may be able to obtain a mortgage on, assuming a 'reasonable' lending rate of 4 times annual salary. Estimated monthly payments for each property are also calculated giving you an estimate of how much a particular property would cost per month - This estimates a 25 year repayment mortgage with an interest rate of 6.5% per annum. This information should be able to estimate if a particular property is affordable.
The calculations displayed on FirstTimeBuys.co.uk are estimates and should be used purely as a guideline. Credit ratings, existing debts and ability to pay will be taken into account by mortgage lending companies on mortgage offers. You may be able to borrow more or less than these estimates suggest. You should contact a mortgage company to arrange a 'mortgage in principle' offer before you view a property.
